Troop 1613 Christmas Party 12/17

'Oh What Fun' it is to join Troop 1613 at our annual Christmas Party Monday, 12/17! The festivities will include a potluck of tasty holiday treats, the famous gift exchange game and a contest for the Scout dressed in the best holiday themed outfit! If you are dressed in holiday attire, you don't need to wear your Scout uniform. Each Scout to please bring a wrapped Scouting appropriate gift (this is not a gag gift, bring something Scouting/camping related or fun game/activity/item) valued in the $15 - $20 range for the gift exchange game. For the potluck, please contact our Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Zach Hudkins to let him know what you can bring. Happy Holidays!   

January Geode & Rocket Campout - Sign Up By 12/17

The Troop 1613 January campout will be a 'rockin' good time and a total 'blast!' We are heading to Coon Hollow Campground for our geode hunting and rocket campout 1/11-1/13/19. We will visit the Hauser geode beds and hunt for geodes that contain cool crystals. We will also launch rockets to add to the fun weekend. With each camping fee, each Scout will receive a simple rocket kit that will need to be assembled/decorated and brought to the campout. We look forward to seeing you all there so please sign up no later than Monday 12/17!

Summer Camp 2019 - Camp Chawanakee 6/30-7/6/19

Summer Camp 2019 will be at Camp Chawanakee on beautiful Shaver Lake 6/30 - 7/6/19. The camp offers about 50 merit badges including many Eagle required, a great assortment of water related activities on the lake, COPE high adventure program for older Scouts, plus much more. Mark your calendars and initial 50% deposits for camp are due 1/7/19. Total costs for Scouts is $410 and $220 for adults. If your Scout needs assistance with funding Summer Camp, there are opportunities to do fundraising with the Troop and also campership opportunities (see attached application). More information to come on Camp.     

2019 Troop 1613 Camping and Event Calendar is Here!

Hello Troop 1613,

Attached is the 2019 Troop Camping and Event Calendar. The calendar has a great mix of campouts in deserts, mountains, beaches and even lakes including Summer Camp at Chawanakee. The calendar includes fun activities like geode hunting, rockets, archery, tomahawk, hiking, gold mine tour, cycling, bouldering, body surfing, backpacking and a ghost town tour. We also have our ongoing community service projects throughout the year including the Brookhaven Elementary School garden clean-up, California Coastal clean-up and Operation Christmas Child along with the many other great Eagle Scout service projects. Yours in Scouting!

Operation Christmas Child HAS BEEN CANCELLED! It seems that they finished packing the boxes early this year! We will schedule for an earlier date next year. Thank you!

This Saturday 12/1 - Troop 1613 Day Hike & BBQ with Arrow of Light Cub Scouts: Please RSVP

Hello Families, we have Arrow of Light Cub Scout recruits and their parents visiting our Troop Hike/BBQ this Saturday to get to know us better and complete their requirement of participating in an outdoor activity with a Boy Scout Troop. The day hike to the Redwoods grove, FREE BBQ and fun games commence on Saturday morning 12/1 from 8:00am - Noon at Carbon Canyon Regional Park at 4442 Carbon Canyon Rd., Brea, CA 92823. All parents, scouts and siblings are welcome and please wear your Troop 1613 t-shirt and hoodie and please show up early to help set-up. Feel free to bring your favorite outdoor games to play (football, frisbee, soccer ball, cornhole, etc.) and a camp chair to sit in. If you know of any Cub Scouts or other boys that might be interested in visiting our Troop, please pass along the attached flyer to them. Please RSVP with the number of people to Mr. Mouleart no later than 11/29 if your family can make it so we have enough food for you. The park has a $5 entrance fee per vehicle. When you enter the park, turn left heading east towards the tennis courts and look for the Troop 1613 flag and sign. See you there!
