On Monday June 22, we will be making a trebuchet (otherwise known as a catapult) and launching tennis balls with it! We will be wearing Class B uniform and the meeting will be at the Richfield Community Church lower lawn near the troop trailer. Look forward to seeing you all there!
To all Big Horn Summer Camp Attendees: Scouts and parents, please review all of the important information below together along with the attachments. Medical Forms: All scouts AND adults attending summer camp, if you haven't already, be sure to schedule a doctor's appointment right away for a physical and get your Medical Form Part C (see most current version attached) completed and signed by the doctor and turned in to Mr. Mouleart by end of day on 6/22.If you can't get an appointment with your regular doctor before that time, CVS Pharmacy Minute Clinic also does camp physicals with a doctor and you can schedule an appointment online here. Big Horn Scout and Leader Participation Form and standard Scouting BSA Activity Consent Form: All Scouts and adults attending summer camp, please complete, sign and return the attached forms to Mr. Mouleart no later than Monday, 6/22.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming campout to Palomar Mountain from 8/14 - 8/16! We'll be camping at the Observatory Campground and enjoying a hike to the world-famous Palomar Observatory, located atop Palomar Mountain in northern San Diego County. Owned and operated by Caltech, the observatory is a renowned center for astronomical research and is home to several active telescopes, including the iconic 200-inch Hale Telescope, one of the largest optical telescopes in the world. This promises to be an exciting weekend of camping, hiking, and exploring one of Southern California's most fascinating scientific landmarks. More details will be sent as we get closer to the event. We look forward to having you join us for this adventure!
Have a friend that would like to enjoy fun in the outdoors, hiking and camping activities, learn fun skills and leadership? Invite them to join Troop 1613 and their National and Orange County Council membership costs are complimentary for their first year! Open to any youth boys age 11 -17 that join in 2026. Please invite them to an upcoming meeting!
On Monday 6/15 at 7pm, we will be having a special Court of Honor. All Scouts and their families are invited to attend. First we will recognize all of the amazing Scouts and adults that participated at Camporee with awards, patches, rank advancements and camping nights awards. Then we will have a special recognition for Hugo Jin and Duncan MacArthur for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. All Scouts to wear their full class A uniforms and merit badge sash if they have one. We also need any Scouts and adults to please come early around 6:30 pm to help set up. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Hey Troop 1613 Scouts! We're hittin' the trail for an overnight backpacking trip to Cedar Glen Trail Camp near Mt. Baldy 6/20 - 6/21. To reserve your spot, sign up by 6/15 and turn in your completed permission slip (attached) and $20 camping fee. Look forward to fun and memorable weekend on the trail with you!
