Board of review-- 5/17/21

Posted on May 6 2021 - 6:57pm

Hello Troop 1613,

As your new advancement chair, I wanted to share a few items to make completing your board of review easier.

  • Please have your scoutmaster conference completed prior to scheduling your board of review.
  • Review your scout handbook and ensure all your sign offs are complete. (I’ll be available prior to the start of meetings to assist with verifying handbook signoffs)
  • Email Mr. Singh and Mr. Hudkins requesting your board of review at least (1) week in advance.
  • Be prepared—dressed in your full class A uniform on the scheduled day and time.

Also, we’ll be returning to in-person boards of review this month (May) and follow the same guidelines as our troop meetings. Our first in-person board of review is scheduled for Monday 5/17/21, please schedule by 5/10/21. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello everyone!

On Monday 5/10 we will be having an In-Person meeting in the back parking lot of the Richfield Community Church. We will be learning about different fire starters, and completing requirements 2a, 2b, 2c, and 2d for Second Class. Additionally, we will also be planning for meals and the Golden Spoon for our next campout and planning for our Dutch oven cookoff for 5/17. We will still be following the same safety guidelines as the previous in-person activities.

Summer Camp Medical Form Part C & Permission Form

Posted on May 3 2021 - 10:50pm

As a reminder, Each Scout and adult attending Summer Camp at Fiesta Island must have the Medical Form Part C (attached) completed and signed by a licensed physician (MD, DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Please make your doctor's appointments now and turn in your Medical Form Part C no later than 6/1. A Fiesta Island Summer Camp Permission Form was distributed to all Scouts attending camp at the Monday meeting on 5/3. Please make sure you complete the form, have it signed by your parent and returned to Mr. Mouleart at the 5/10 Troop meeting. Also, in the 2021 Summer Camp Fiesta Island folder in the Files section of our website, are the Fiesta Island Leaders Guide, which explains everything about the camp, the camp rules, adult leader training schedule and weekly schedule. Please review to learn more about the camp details and activities. If you have any questions about camp, please reach out to Mr. Mouleart for assistance.

As announced at the parent meeting on 5/2, we have multiple campouts that have been added to the Troop calendar on this website. They are in August, September, October and January. Also, if your Scout is going to Summer Camp and you missed the parent meeting, please reach out to Mr. Mouleart and he can provide you with the latest updates on camp. We are also continuing to work to secure additional camping opportunities for the Troop and will post about those as they are confirmed.

Summer Camp Fiesta Island - 7/4 - 7/10 - Merit Badge Requests Due 4/30

Posted on Apr 29 2021 - 10:10pm

Troop 1613 is going to Summer Camp at Fiesta Island on Mission Bay in San Diego 7/4 - 7/10. This is going to be an epic Summer Camp with over 50 merit badges and excursion opportunities. As communicated last week, please go to the files section of the website, folder name: 2021 Summer Camp Fiesta Island and download the Merit Badge Schedule, Merit Badge Catalog and send Mr. Mouleart your 1st, 2nd and 3rd options for each of the 5 periods no later than 4/30. Please note that some merit badges or the Mariner's Program (Trail to 1st Class for newer Scouts) are more than one period. The merit badge catalog will also let you know the age or pre-requisite requirements and any potential costs associated with a badge. Each Scout and adult attending must have the Medical Form Part C (attached) completed and signed by a licensed physician (MD, DO), nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Please make your doctor's appointments now and turn in your Medical Form Part C no later than 6/1. Also, in the folder are the Fiesta Island Leaders Guide, which explains everything about the camp, the camp rules, adult leader training schedule and weekly schedule. Please review to learn more about the camp details and activities. If you are interested in one of the off-island excursions on Wednesday of camp (not required), those have incremental costs (see Leader's Guide for details and costs) and you will need to let us know if you plan on participating in those as well by 4/30 as well. There will be activities at camp on that Wednesday as well that are free and the Waterfront will be open all day. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Mouleart for assistance. We will also plan a parent meeting in May (date TBD) to go through additional camp details as well.
